Finning (UK) approached Discovery Graduates following a recommendation from one of their current graduates, based on our name in the market place.

Finning (UK) have always gone to market to recruit graduates to develop into their business leaders of the future, and have always recognised the benefits to be gained from outsourcing to a specialist company. 

2007 had been a challenging year for Finning (UK) in terms of graduate recruitment. It was felt that the incumbent supplier, although they ultimately had delivered the required numbers, had taken too long, had to do too many assessment centres, and had not necessarily delivered the quality that had been expected. 

For 2008 Finning (UK) made the decision to use Discovery Graduates recognising the importance of investing in a robust process because ultimately graduate recruitment is not just about getting people through the now, it is about growing the people who will drive the business in the future. 

ATTRACTION

Discovery Graduates recognised that Finning (UK) needed to position the company as a graduate recruiter with vast opportunities. Through the use of focus groups, profiling and testing of existing graduates, we built a profile of the types of graduates we wanted to attract. 

An online campaign commenced with all applications being driven through the Finning (UK) branded micro site and online application system provided by Discovery. www.finningcareers.com 

RECRUITMENT

In excess of 1000 applications were generated and processed through the standard procedures of telephone interview, first round assessment and client assessment centre.The results were delivered quickly and efficiently and it was commented on several occasions that the quality of graduates we exceptional. The graduates are in the process of the rotational scheme, but feedback from the managers has been glowing regarding how quickly they have integrated into the business, are challenging the managers and delivering results.
