The OPEN Programme | Accredited Graduate Development

Discovery Graduates ‘Open Graduate Development Programme’

As businesses become more demanding of the people they employ and focused on the return from their human capital, investing in talent is a requirement for business success and it is no longer an option to leave the development of their future managers to chance. Universities continue to deliver some exceptional talent but the transition from academia to the commercial world is often a long and challenging one.

It is common practice for companies to provide exceptional ‘technical’ training, i.e. the knowledge and skills to undertake the role they are recruited for, but often lack the infrastructure, expertise and resource to turn their new recruits in to the managers of the future.

Working alongside our clients over many years, the Discovery Graduates ‘Open Programme’ was designed to accommodate this vital need. In short, the ‘Open Programme’ helps ensure the smooth transition from academia to work life, delivering a structured, ‘results focused’ development plan and training programme which emulates the programmes used by many of the worlds leading graduate recruiters. The Open programme is designed to develop key business and personal skills.

In particular:

  • Communicating and Influencing
  • Planning and organising
  • Problem solving and analysis
  • Team working
  • Personal responsibility
  • Leadership

The programme has a particular emphasis on the importance of self development, delivering results and accountability.  Your new Graduates will be enrolled onto the programme alongside Graduates from other businesses (The maximum course size is 12 delegates).

Utilising the facilitation expertise of a number of exceptional training companies, the Discovery Graduates 'Open programme' makes graduate development accessible to all companies regardless of size or industry.  Being an open programme means you can benefit from developing your one graduate in exactly the same way as if you had your own comprehensive programme.

The graduates benefit from working with people from different businesses, functions and backgrounds, and will share experiences and form networks that they will go on to use throughout their careers.  These important relationships will be reinforced through the “My Journey” network portal that encourages shares learning and experiences.

The ‘My Journey’ portal is a particularly useful tool for graduates who may be based remotely from other graduates in your business. The experiential programme is designed to be challenging, exciting, memorable and results driven to push the graduates from the start of their career.

The residential programme is split over three modules during an 12-18 month period and is typically delivered at Impacts impressive facilities in the Lake District. The programme not only aids the retention of the graduates within your business but provides opportunities for key stakeholders who are involved in your graduate recruitment and development to have access to this new talent.

Community and business led projects form part of the real life experiences that add tremendous value to their development and your company in the form of business improvement.

We recognize a training course alone is not the answer to successful graduate recruitment; it is how this is utilised back in your business, which is why we also provide ongoing coaching and support for your graduates.
