Prove them wrong!

A recent article in the MAIL Online entitled ‘Hard work? No thanks! Meet 'entitled to it all' Generation Y’ suggested that those born in the late 80’s are a generation who expect to “have their cake and eat it”. This refers to the fact that Generation Y individuals who were involved in a study completed over 30 years were found to be much more likely to want a job with lots of holidays and an easy pace when compared with older members of the workforce, valued leisure time far more and were less likely to want to work overtime.
 
According to the study, published in the Journal of Management, Generation Y are seeking jobs that provide them with large salaries along with a healthy work-life balance, viewing their job as a means of funding their lifestyle, rather than looking for work with “meaning”.
 
An Association of Graduate Recruiters report, based on responses from 211 graduate employers including investment banks, law and accountancy firms, cited a warning that Generation Y graduates are often accused of being 'divas at work who expect everything to fall into their laps'.
