Development

Once you have got your new talent on board it is essential to provide a development structure to deliver an efficient return on investment.

Over several years of providing graduate recruitment and training services we have identified alongside our clients that companies are very good at providing the ‘technical’ training, i.e. the knowledge and skills to undertake the role they are recruited for but often lack the infrastructure, expertise and resource to turn their new recruits in to the high fliers of the future. Discovery Graduates delivers a range of programmes to solve these recurring problems and develop your graduates to be the high achievers you require.

Our services include: -

OPEN Graduate Development Programme
An 18 month programme including three residential 'experiential' modules designed to nurture and develop graduates to their full potential

Sales Winners Programme
A 12 month programme of personal coaching and support for graduates and their line managers kick started by a week long sales training programme for graduates who are new to professional selling.

Development Centres
Are you doing enough to identify, understand and harness the existing talent within your business?
How do you identify where your future leaders or technical specialists are coming from?
How do you ensure that your teams are fit for purpose in changing and challenging times?
How do you create a sense of awareness and accountability within your team to recognise their own development needs?

A question we often ask our clients; does your people strategy support your business strategy? Or more simply, is everyone pulling in the same direction?

A development centre can help answer all of these questions and gives key stakeholders in the company the opportunity to observe, measure and evaluate its employees during this process against a robust set of competencies.

More specifically to:
1) Identify specific training needs for individuals
2) Identify group wide training needs
3) Measure and reflect on the success of the recruitment process
4) Benchmark a team or function
5) Uncover talent in a function or discipline which may be better utilised in other roles or areas
6) Create a succession plan for the future sustainability of the business
7) Engage with the team – show them you are listening and taking action

Coaching and Mentoring

Our Mentoring programme is aimed at individuals that will be mentoring as part of their current role and may be new to mentoring within a more formal structure.

It has been designed to give individuals an insight into the role and benefits of mentoring and a practical set of tools that can be applied to develop positive mentoring relationships.

This programme is highly interactive and delegates are encouraged to share their own experiences from the workplace with others and to develop a mentoring support network for the future.

Business Benefits
By the end of the programme delegates will be able to:

  • Be an inspiring and competent mentor

  • Understand the power of mentoring and the positive consequences for both mentors and mentees

  • Develop mutually beneficial expectations and objectives

  • Understand mentee needs and how to address them

  • Determine responsibilities and guidelines for both parties

  • Use effective communication and listening skills to gain rapport and model behaviours

  • Hold productive discussions/meetings with mentees

  • Avoid certain behaviours and situations
